Who this course is for

Professionals who can use AI tools but need a repeatable method for real work.
Team leads evaluating a small draft-only use case before broader adoption.

What you will be able to do

Select a suitable work task and define its source and reviewer.
Write an instruction with an expected output and visible unknowns.
Test normal missing conflicting and risky inputs.
Publish a one-page workflow with an owner review rule and stop condition.

Before you start

One repeated work task with an output another person can inspect.
Public fictional or organization-approved material for the exercises.

Choose one bounded work job
Write the source and output contract
Test failures before routine use
Publish the workflow and review rule

Understand the idea

Start with a job that has a finish line. Summarizing approved meeting notes can be tested; asking AI to manage the project cannot. Keep authority and consequential decisions outside the first workflow.

Example

A coordinator chooses meeting recaps because the input notes are available the output has fixed fields and the project lead can verify every commitment.

Score four possible jobs

List four repeated tasks. For each record source permission expected output reviewer reversibility and failure cost. Choose the smallest task with the clearest evidence.

Try this prompt

Compare these tasks as draft-only AI workflows: [tasks]. Return source permission expected output reviewer reversibility failure cost and unresolved approval. Do not estimate savings or recommend a task with unclear data permission.

Keep in mind

Choose a job before a product
Require a visible source and output
Keep authority with the accountable owner

Understand the idea

A prompt works better when it states what counts as complete and how unknowns must appear. The source contract also prevents convenience from becoming permission.

Example

The recap contract allows approved notes requires Decisions Actions and Open questions and uses Not assigned or Not set when a field is absent.

Draft the workflow contract

Write source owner permitted data required fields prohibited inferences reviewer and completion evidence for the selected job.

Try this prompt

Turn this work record into a source and output contract: [record]. Separate permitted inputs required output fields prohibited inferences missing-data labels reviewer and completion evidence. Preserve unresolved approvals.

Check your understanding

Keep in mind

State what inputs are permitted
Define the output before generation
Preserve unknown owners and dates

Understand the idea

A clean example cannot show how the workflow handles missing or conflicting information. Write expected results before running the tool and rerun old cases after each prompt change.

Example

The recap test set includes an unapproved suggestion a missing owner and two conflicting dates. Any invented decision or deadline fails the case.

Create five cases

Add a normal case missing field conflicting field out-of-scope request and consequential request. Record expected result and failure trigger.

Try this prompt

Create an evaluation sheet from these authored cases: [cases]. Keep the supplied expected result. Return case source expected result unacceptable behavior reviewer decision and correction. Do not invent a pass rule.

Check your understanding

Keep in mind

Write expectations first
Include missing and conflicting inputs
Rerun the same cases after changes

Understand the idea

A reliable workflow includes the manual review and exception path. Publishing only the prompt hides the work needed to reach an approved result.

Example

The final recap workflow names the note owner project-lead reviewer missing-field labels escalation for disputed commitments and a quarterly review trigger.

Write the one-page operating card

Record trigger permitted input instruction review checklist exception path completion evidence owner and change trigger. Run one final case using only the card.

Try this prompt

Turn this tested workflow record into an operating card: [record]. Return trigger permitted input steps review checklist exception path completion evidence owner and review trigger. Keep manual approvals explicit.

Check your understanding

Keep in mind

Publish the whole path to approval
Name exceptions and stop conditions
Retest when product source or process changes

Frequently asked questions

Is the full course available on this page?

Yes. All four lessons exercises prompts and knowledge checks are available on the web without an account.

Do I need a paid AI tool?

No specific paid product is required. Use a permitted tool available to you and verify its current plan and data terms before entering work information.

Does the course automate a job?

No. It teaches a draft-review workflow for one bounded task and keeps ownership approval and exceptions with people.

Can I use confidential company data in the exercises?

Only when your organization has approved the tool plan purpose and data. Public fictional or sanitized material is the safer default.
