Parameters are controls, not decorations
Midjourney’s current documentation places parameters at the end of the prompt. Add one only when it expresses a decision in the brief: aspect ratio for placement, tile for a repeating pattern or a recorded seed for a controlled comparison.
| Need | Prompt decision | Review |
|---|---|---|
| Website hero | --ar matches the layout |
Test responsive crops |
| Pattern | --tile requests repetition |
Inspect a repeated grid |
| Style comparison | Hold subject and composition fixed | Change one style variable |
Do I need every Midjourney parameter?
No. Most first projects need a clear visual description and an aspect ratio. Learn another parameter when a real constraint requires it, then verify its current behavior in Midjourney’s documentation.
